Business Development Manager

OBJECTIVE

  • Pioneer new sales opportunities through combination of entrepreneurial, creative, and strategic skills
  • Expand and diversify wholesale sales revenue by selling existing products to new channels and customers
  • Build network of new relationships to create future sales pipeline of ideas and opportunities
  • Serve as an anbassador of Toad&Co goals, principles, and culture

RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities

  • Build strategic plan to pursue and secure new sources of sales - new channels and customers
    • Initial focus on Corporate Sales, College/Bookstores
    • “Disrupter” Channels such as Huckberry, Trunk Club, Outside College
    • Develop/pursue adjacent channels, e.g. Surf, Fashion, Fitness/Health Clubs, etc.
  • Direct sales to new customers when and where necessary
  • Understand and navigate sales supply chain of new sales channel opportunities
  • Create resource budget to support execution of strategic plan, including T&E
  • Build system and process infrastructure to integrate and service new sales opportunities
  • Define and execute trade marketing programs to support strategic plan, including trade shows
  • Create and produce regular reporting and analytics of results to VP of Sales
  • Coordinate with VP of Sales to ensure monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets are met; report on shortfalls and create plans to make up any gaps
  • Manage effective cross-departmental communications process to ensure support for the business development including sales forecasting and inventory management
  • Opportunistically define and submit new product opportunities specific to new channels/customers
  • Act as collaborative and complimentary partner to support larger Wholesale Sales Team efforts

QUALIFICATIONS

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6-8 years’ sales experience in sporting goods, premium, and/or apparel industries
  • Success in developing new business (and channels) along with account management experience
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven success in working with a dynamic and ever-changing environment and problem solving
  • High level of computer knowledge – Proficiency in Microsoft applications required
  • Entrepreneurial, intelligent, self-directing, and self-confident leader
  • Ability to use independent judgement in performing duties of the position
  • Strong people and management skills
  • Ability to travel and work within varied business hours and weekends, especially during seasonal booking deadlines, key meetings and industry shows
  • High degree of integrity
