Colorist

 

As a colorist at ALO, you will provide your expertise and work closely and collaboratively with our Design, RM R&D, PD and Production teams to create beautiful seasonal color stories.  You will be an integral part of our Design and Commericialization process by aiding creation of color palettes and teaching color usage.  Your knowledge in color will lead us in the creation of our unique and quality made products.  You will be responsible for visually and digitally reviewing lab dips in development and bulk production for commercialization. You will work to ensure that colors meet our colorfastness and will drive our quality standards. You will also be responsible for issuing color standards, issuing lab dip requests, maintaining accurate colors records, and color approval histories.   You will track approvals and all other outcomes in PLM to assure that calendar by ready deadlines are met. Your leadership will build and maintain relationships with our mill partners and you will gauge and track their seasonal performances to relay across your cross-functional teams. You will occasionally travel to do on-site work with our vendors and to build and maintain new and existing relationships.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in Apparel, Textiles, Chemistry or related field plus 3-5 years related work experience or 8-10 years equivalent of working in a textile mill and/or apparel brand, preferably sport performance or fashion brand.
  • Have excellent visual accuracy and ability to distinguish variances in color shade; score at least a 16 or better on Munsell color acuity test.
  • Strong understanding of textile construction, yarn, fiber dyeing and finishing knowledge in apparel development process is required
  • Strong digital color experience in Datacolor Tools
  • Experience in working in a lab/colorfastness testing
  • Ability to solve problems and analyze
  • Ability to work cross functionally with all departments in a team environment
  • Must be organized, have a great attention to detail, and can multitask.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to attend on-sites with our mill partners.
