VP, Sourcing and Supply Chain - Johnston & Murphy, Trask

Job Summary:

The Vice President of Supply Chain plans and directs all aspects of the organization's supply chain policies, objectives, and initiatives. Responsible for global sourcing, including: commercialization, production management, factory evaluation and development, quality, and compliance. The role leads all supply chain functions, including: sourcing, inventory management, demand planning (forecasting), and purchasing for all product categories, (footwear, apparel, accessories,) supporting all channels of the Johnston & Murphy and Trask businesses. These channels include retail stores, outlets, wholesale, direct, and international. The position also provides strategic and tactical leadership for Johnston & Murphy’s distribution center, including: distribution operations, receiving, fulfillment and shipping, and logistics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Optimize Johnston & Murphy’s supply chain to drive growth and achieve financial objectives through effective inventory management, strategic global sourcing, and increased efficiencies and process improvement
  • Direct men’s and women’s footwear commercialization process to meet the brand’s quality, fit, function and design expectations
  • Provide strategic objectives and direction to the team regarding materials management, forecasting, demand and supply planning, supply chain design, purchase order management and product allocation
  • Optimize inventory by managing inventory turns and obsolescence, while maintaining consistent, high service levels
  • Continuously analyze supply sources and identify, prioritize and execute action plans to drive opportunities for improved cost, quality and delivery
  • Ensure appropriate continuity plans are in place for critical components, materials and finished goods
  • Lead supplier identification, approval, negotiations and vendor relations
  • Develop and implement effective Distribution Center strategies to effectively and efficiently support all business channels
  • Drive continuous improvement of systems, processes and people through effective assessment of capabilities and development/implementation of strategies
  • Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Ensure effective collaboration within the Supply Chain function, and with all other internal business partners
  • Manage, empower and develop an effective functional team through appropriate selection, communication, coaching, training, reward/recognition and enforcement of company policies and procedures
  • Serves on the operating group’s executive committee to set overall strategy and direct execution of all brand activities

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in sourcing / supply chain / product supply, distribution, purchasing and planning
  • Proven success leading distribution centers
  • Successful track record of leading large scale supply/distribution processes, ability to develop and implement strategies and deliver sustainable improvement and results
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams and collaborate cross-functionally in a global business environment
  • Experience in retail/wholesale apparel or footwear industries
  • Excellent analytical and modeling skills with ability to leverage computerized systems to measure and analyze efficiencies and drive continuous improvement
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally 25% of time
